Literary element: Conflict
Conflict -- involves a struggle between two opposing forces usually a protagonist and an antagonist. Conflict enhances writing by creating a reason for change and conflict creates the plot.
Types of external conflict:
Man vs. Man
-Diane Clompers vs. Harrison Bergeron. Clomper confronts Harrison and kills him because he is a threat to the way of life established in the story's society.
Man vs. Society
-Harrison vs. the Government. Even though he is just fourteen years old, Harrison knows that keeping every equal has dangerous consequence. There is no art, sports, and people cannot enjoy life, even if they can't tell the difference.
Man vs. Self
